Koala Woman Says
This electorate covers the Blue Mountains and wilderness areas to the north, about 80% of the bush in this electorate was burnt in the summer of 2019 – 2020, and would have wiped out Koalas at Bilpin and elsewhere. Koalas in this electorate are mostly found in the lower Blue Mountains at Kurrajong Heights with a couple of sightings also at Lawson so these Koalas were mostly lucky and survived. This electorate is a rugged wilderness with poor-quality Koala habitat so of course any sightings are made on gentler slopes with better soils, where development has already occurred.
