The area was first settled in the 1840s, and by the 1920s was becoming extensively developed for housing. Habitat clearance and the fur trade were certain to  have exterminate Koalas by this time. Some good habitat remains along the Yarra River, but it’s “the end of the line” as far as habitat connectivity is concerned.
