It has nearly been a year since these graphs were sent to the respective councils to request that they place a moratorium on all Koala Habitat Development Applications in their Local Government Area (LGA) and on the removal of any tree species that are needed for the long term future of the Koala in their LGA. It is time to revisit... KOALA HABITAT CHANGES SINCE 1788 - BRISBANE KOALA HABITAT...

Dear Koala Lovers, Welcome to 2018 and I know it is going to be a great year for the AKF in our endeavours to find the way to enact the Koala Protection Act. Over the summer, I had quite a few weeks off and Mr Darcy and the rest of the troops loved having me around and vice versa. It was great to get away from the madding crowd. In Australia we have the most wonderful national public radio, and...

I am looking forward to relaxing over the Christmas holidays (my tummy is already rumbling wodering what mum will be cooking for Christmas dinner) and will be back again on the 8th of January 2018, fully rested and ready for a year of many exciting changes. I just finished reading The Extraordinary Life of Pikelet, a marvellous book about love and adoption! Pikelet was rescued at only seven weeks old from the pound's death row for untreated rickets. He is now happy, healthy and a handsome Australian ambassador for rescue dogs. Did you know you can Adopt Koalas too? For one dollar a day we can keep our Koala neighbours safe in those trees!
Read this entry in Deborah's Diary about a beautiful piece of Koala habitat.
I believe this article is a blatant demonstration of why Australia needs a Koala Protection Act. Not only does this reserve protect hundreds of other significant species because of the old growth trees on the site, but it is also the home to Koala. How can this reserve be destroyed when the Koala was protected in May 2012 and we still wait impatiently for a Federal Koala Recovery Plan? The...
