A visit from Jasper

Last month, we had were lucky enough to be visited by a remarkable young man named Jasper.

Unlike most 10 year olds, Jasper Davis from Lethbridge, Canada, isn’t spending his Christmas and birthday money on lollies or toys.

Rather, on a trip of a lifetime to Australia last month, Jasper donated his piggy bank containing over $600 worth of his life savings to the AKF. We still can't believe it!

Jasper, a long time lover of Koalas, met with our CEO, Deborah Tabart OAM at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary – one of our partners – in Brisbane.

After handing over his piggy bank to a ‘gobsmacked and very grateful’ Deborah, Jasper was also delighted to have a cuddle with Byron (pictured below); a Koala that he’s sponsored since he was six years old through the AKF’s Adopt-a-Koala program.

‘It was just gorgeous to see,’ Deborah said

.

‘The fact that he’s been supporting the AKF since he was six, and now he’s in Australia, visiting his Koala in the flesh, and donating all of that money to us… it’s truly incredible,’ she said.

Jasper described the experience as ‘amazing’, and said he will be supporting Koalas for many years to come.

Thanks Jasper, we will never forget you!
