Koala Woman Says
There were a couple of hundred Koalas south of Goodna in a large patch of bush up until about 2000, however this is being eaten away by large residential developments (for example, Augustine Heights and Springfield) so now there only appears to be about 30 or so. The only other population is near Wacol in the Pooh Corner Nature Refuge. This would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. These few Koalas are totally isolated from other Koalas.
I think this is probably an accurate assessment and various Queensland Governments stand condemned for allowing a large population to be whittled away to this unsustainable number. We are looking at imminent extinction.
