KOALA WOMAN SAYS

There haven’t been any reported sightings since 2008. Where are they? Gone the same way as the habitat, less than 5% left. This part of the Gold Coast is described as the “City without a Plan” and is a great example of how developers (the “white shoe brigade”) worked with pro-development Governments (Joh Bjelke-Petersen’s) to develop at any cost, and this started back in the 1950s. The Koala Protection Act will stop any more of this nonsense occurring in other areas.

KOALA NUMBERS

Estimated AKF Koala Population: 10 - 20
Estimated Koala Habitat left: 4.8%
Estimated Federal Goverment Population: No data. No opinion.

Listed as vulnerable to extinction under the EPBC Act (May 2012)
