Koala Woman Says

Large areas of this electorate weren’t developed until after WW2 (Cabramatta, Moorebank and Milperra). I imagine there were lots more koalas in this landscape. Most of the animals are within the boundaries of Holsworthy Army Base, where they may or may not be safe. We don’t know. We do know there have recently been many Koalas impacted by development at Menai and it looks like continuing for some time. Where are the Koala-friendly developments?

This electorate now includes Waterfall and Bundeena where there may be some Koalas but none have been recorded in the last 20 years and the Royal National Park was almost entirely burnt in 2002.

If no management occurs then this population is on its way to extinction, the classic “death by a thousand cuts”
