Koala Woman Says
This area of Victoria cannot have the 7000 animals that the Government asserts. We know that Koalas have been declining in the Mt Macedon – Hanging Rock area for 15 years, and there are a some around Trentham and Castlemaine. Sightings are rare elsewhere in this electorate, the habitat is highly fragmented and we do not believe the Victorian Government has any data to prove this density.

The Victorian Government opposed the protection of the koala and there is no Federal protective legislation in place.
