Koala Woman Says
AKF knows this area well having had a Field Officer embedded in Ballarat City for 10 years and these are the only koalas in Victoria protected by VCAT, however even with this level of protection it is rare to see Koalas between Ballarat and Buninyong and they have largely disappeared from the Creswick area. There does appear to be a reasonably large population in the Daylesford-Trentham area but I still think AKF numbers are too high and the Federal Government numbers are completely incorrect.

Estimated Federal Government Population: 4000-8000
The Victorian Government opposed the protection of the koala and there is no Federal protective legislation in place.
