Koala Woman Says

Koalas in this electorate are concentrated in the south from Mango Hill north to Burpengary and west towards Narangba. This is in the Moreton Bay Council area north of Brisbane, and it is one of the fastest developing areas in Australia. The Council has a new Draft Planning Scheme with some regard to Koala corridors, but we know that if Koalas are to avoid extinction they need large patches of bush, not “corridors to nowhere”. In any case Koalas in this area live in the suburbs and are under constant threat from cars and dogs. Many Koalas continue to get killed crossing the Bruce Highway particularly north and south of Burpengary.

Elsewhere in this electorate Koalas are in very low densities so you’d be extremely lucky to see one around Woodford or Wamuran where there are still fragmented patches of bush.
