The power of Mother Nature

24 March 2025 –

Hello Koala lovers,

I know I have been quiet – unusual for me, but with Cyclone Alfred hitting Brisbane a few weeks ago, everyone in the whole city was quiet.

Living without power for 5 days and about 10 inches of rain over a very short time, makes you realise the power of Mother Nature

And of course, we were and are due for an election. I think this will be the first time in history when Mother Nature was able to change the mind of our political leaders who have announced they will delay the calling so the people can recover.

It seems to me that the politicians of the future will also have to govern in unfamiliar territory because we can look forward to more and more storms like this and also fires that we are seeing all over the planet.

I heard that this storm has cost about $1.2 Billion Australian.

No wonder our insurances go up.

Koala land is still the same and as governments go towards an election, everything slows down. The Koala Recovery Plan is still not written and I imagine the new government, or old government, will still have to settle in before we hear anything.

You can rest assured that I will be keeping an eye on things.

Over the last couple of months too, I have had the privilege of filming for a documentary and it has been just great to get out into the bush, talk to people, and also to see nature at its best.

Australia does have the chance to save our animals and our biodiversity. This documentary will certainly focus on all creatures great and small that live within the Koala forests of Australia.

Fondest regards,
Deborah
