October Newsletter

4 November 2019 –

This September the Australian Koala Foundation celebrated 30 years of Save the Koala Month! We must thank you, our supporters, for showing such tremendous support throughout the whole month. This newsletter is to recognise all of the amazing contributions made to help save the Koala this September.

Message from AKF Chairman

“What an amazing Save the Koala month we’ve had. Thank you to all of our new and loyal supporters who contributed, we are so grateful for your love and support of the Koala. The Australian Koala Foundation’s mission is stronger than ever, to have the Koala Protection Act enacted. Keep an eye out for an interview I recently did with US Today. It is imperative that the plight of the Koala is recognised worldwide so that our government is forced to protect this gorgeous creature”.

Girl Guides Support

The Australian Koala Foundation has had a long, supportive relationship with Girl Guides Australia. For Save the Koala Month the Wembley Clover Girl Guides supported the Australian Koala Foundation by raising awareness and funds for wild Koalas.  Located in Perth, Western Australia, the 18 girls were tasked to raise awareness for an endangered animal for their ‘Explore a Challenge World Badge’. From their efforts the girls have adopted Smarty Pants, a wild Koala who lives in Tom Doherty Park, Ackland.

Loyal Supporters

Over the past 10 years Perfect Potion has supported the AKF by holding donation boxes in their stores and donating $1 for every Australian Essential Oil Kit sold. You can purchase one of these divine kits directly through our Save the Koala shop .If your business would like to support the AKF please send an email to: akf@savethekoala.com

Amazing Bake Sales

Bake sales are an incredibly fun and delicious way to fundraise for the Australian Koala Foundation! Rain and Lucky Academy of Dance, located in Fairfield Victoria, held a beautiful bake sale for Save the Koala Month. Holding an assortment of delicious treats, the studio and their students raised $200 for the AKF, what absolute heroes! If you held a bake sale to help save Koalas then be sure to send your photos to pr@savethekoala.com, we would love to see them!

Products with a Purpose

Australian illustration artist Flossy-P made such a beautiful contribution to Save the Koala Month this year. With the launch of her new Koala Decals Flossy donated $5 to AKF for each one purchased in September, thank you Flossy-P!

Glanville & Co is an in-house, state of the art manufacturing business specialised in the making of orchestral string instruments and accessories. On their involvement for Save the Koala Month Glanville & Co say: “Our promise is to donate $150 for every 10 Glanville & Co. instruments sold which will go towards planting new trees for these beautiful animals to help ensure their survival.” Thank you Glanville & Co for your tremendous support! Hero of the Month

This October we would like to celebrate our hero of the month, Luke! Recently Luke presented an outstanding presentation on Koala habitat loss and protection to his year 4 class. Informing his classmates of the plight of the Koala Luke said: “Currently it is against the law to harm a koala however there are no laws to protect the gum trees that koalas need for food and shelter. Koalas need our help”. Luke also fundraised on behalf of the AKF for STKM and raised enough money to plant a tree for a wild Koala in need. Thanks for being a hero Luke!

Have you heard the news?

To celebrate our new adoptive parents, we will be gifting a plush toy Lola for every new adoption from November 1st till December 18th! So why not give the gift of Koala love this Christmas?
