Recruits,
Our Commander-in-Chief Deborah Tabart OAM has asked me to pass along this letter to all of our recruits ahead of the March next week! Hear what she has to say below, and see you next week!

Dear March participants,
As Commander in Chief of the Koala Army, I am absolutely delighted to be welcoming you to Canberra on September 1. It is going to be a glorious celebration of the beautiful creatures, great and small that could be saved if Koala forests were protected forever.
As you know the AKF is dedicated to a Koala Protection Act, and we believe that existing legislation is broken, outdated and not fit for purpose. But, the purpose of this march, from woe to go is to showcase the beauty of the bush. To show our political leaders that our dedication to the biodiversity of country is paramount to our future.
Allana Beltran, the Weld Angel will be the highlight at the end of March and our key message is that those that protect our forests should not be demonised, gaoled and diminished, but seen as Angels of the forest and thank goodness they have the courage to protect our wildlife.
I know many of you dislike different industries for one reason or another, but I am going to ask that there are no signs with their names. This March is Phase One of the AKF’s mission prior to the next election to educate the Australian public about the threats and cruelty that has been, and continues to be, perpetrated on our natural wonders. The death of the Koala Moji in Byron Bay yesterday infuriated me. I have seen thousands of Koalas die over my many years and it is time our laws stopped it happening. The fact that the driver did not stop indicates that some of us Australians are completely out of step with nature.
I do hope you are enjoying the videos and caricatures of the Mischief Members. Those that stymy the protection of the forests.
We will have several cameras videoing the March and our Compere will also interview many of you as we “waddle”, like Ernie the Echidna, our way to Parliament House to meet the Weld Angel.
We will have lots of little children dressed as Angels, butterflies and mice, so please leave our politics behind and just enjoy a wonderful celebration of our wildlife and the roles we play in helping to protect them. It will be marvellous to enjoy each other’s company in celebration of why we do what we do.
We do have a code of conduct – have a look below and so looking forward to seeing you.
Commander in Chief
