Hello Koala lovers,
I am just delighted that on Save the Koala Day, Andy Penkow and his band visited Koala HQ and sang his beautiful new song ‘Heavy on Me’, dedicated to Koalas.
The words are poignant and meant to convey that we humans can be relied upon to speak up for all the creatures in the bush. It seems to me that Koalas do have a heavy burden. They are so cute, loveable and their charismatic reputation can sometimes be to their detriment. The AKF knows too well, that as such an iconic species, they can play a vital role in protecting the Australian bush.
The Koala Army’s March was incredible and we are all still giggling and smiling from all that we saw in Canberra that day. I am sure too that our political leaders were well aware of the joy and determination in the streets. We continue to edit footage of the March and it will live long as we show Canberra that in the next election, the animals of the bush mean business.
More later,
Deborah
