Koala Woman Says

There have been a few sightings in the St Georges Basin area since 2000, some of these are close to the Princes Highway so are probably road kills. The main population appears to be at Touga in a very remote corner of Morton National Park east of Marulan. AKF has said that if there is ever a wildfire here (as there was in 2002 which burnt over 60,000 hectares), there is nowhere for these Koalas to go. Well, that happened in the summer of 2019 – 2020 and nearly all the bush was burnt in this electorate, so we have to say that Koalas are now extinct.
